What's on?

Here's what to expect from Bootcammp

The sessions at Bootcamp are all delivered by the world's leading adventurers. The information provided will save you time and money in your planning and make sure you have the best experience when you finally set off on that adventure of a life time.

Expect over 20 hours of sessions across two stages! Sessions include:

There are also individual sessions on different kinds of adventures including adventure motorcycling, bike packing, ocean rowing and more.

Inspiring presentations, films and live Q&A's

As well as all of the informative sessions Bootcamp will feature some inspiring presentations and the odd adventure film including Sea Gypsies: The Far Side of the World.

You'll also hear from adventurers who are currently out there adventuring! We chatted with Kinga Tanajewska, Chris the coast walker and many more! There's nothing more inspiring than catching someone and listening to them when they're right in the middle of an adventure. We love hearing about what they've been up to and what they've got planned next.

Bonus Screening of Sea Gypsies and Q&A with Director Nico Edwards!

The vessel is Infinity, a 120ft hand-built sailing ketch that plies the Pacific Ocean on a never ending voyage of nomadic exploration. In early Feb 2014, during the iciest year on record in the Southern Ocean, Infinity and her crew of 16 left New Zealand on an 8,000 mile pacific crossing to Patagonia, with a stop in Antarctica. Along the way, they battled a hurricane of ice in the Ross Sea, struggled with compounding mechanical and flooding problems, undertook a mission with the radical environmental group Sea Shepherd, tore every sail they had, and unwittingly went further south than any sailing vessel in 2014. This expedition was undertaken with a non-ice-reinforced gypsy boat built by hand in the 1970's, crewed by a band of wandering miscreants, with no permits or insurance and an almost non-existent budget. This is a story about sailing, the camaraderie of a shared struggle and the raw awe inspiring power of the natural world.

Speakers

Matt & Reece (AKA The Sidecar Guys)

Matt and Reece are the hosts of Bootcamp and the founders of the Armchair Adventure Festival. They are the Guinness World Record holders for the longest ever journey by scooter and sidecar and the first people to ever circumnavigate the globe on that mode of transport.

Chaz Powell

Chaz's ongoing project 'The Wildest Journey' is all about his remote explorations by foot along Africa's wildest rivers. With the main focus and objective behind the journeys being to raise funds and awareness for wildlife conservation and anti poaching. During 2016/17 Chaz spent 137 days walking over 3000km from source to sea along the Zambezi River and in 2019 spent 47 days walking 1120km from source to sea along the Gambia river. Chaz will be delivering a workshop on planning for remote expeditions.

Tiffany Coates

Tiffany has ridden her motorcycle over 300,000 miles, crossing every continent, some of them several times and each year heads off on new adventures. She’s ridden just about everywhere including Timbuctoo, Outer Mongolia, Madagascar and Borneo. Remote riding adventures are her passion, one that Tiffany now also shares with others in her role as one of the world’s leading freelance motorcycle guides. Tiffany will be running a Masterclass on Safety in the Wildest Places.

Austin Vince

Austin is adventure filmmaking royalty. Co-founder of the Adventure Travel Film Festival, Austin has likely seen more adventure films than any other human on the planet. He's also made two hit TV series and knows everything there is to know about shooting your own adventure film. Austin will be teaching a Masterclass on 'How to make a film of your adventures'. This is a must do session if you're thinking of filming your trip!

Tim & Marisa Notier

Tim and Marisa Notier, AKA Notiers Frontiers, are currently riding around the world on their KTM 1190. Tim and Marisa, quit their jobs back in 2017 and have been on the road ever since - travelling through over 20 countries, 2 up on their motorbike. They will be delivering a workshop on traveling with a partner and presentation on riding in Peru.

Kinga Tanajewska (AKA On Her Bike)

Kinga's been 'On Her Bike' since 2017 when she quit her job in Australia and set off to ride around the world on a motorbike. Her current trip is called the 'Are we there yet?' tour because she doesn't know where it will end! She joined us to chat about her adventurers at one of our film nights back in 2020 when she was stuck in Poland, but has since managed to get back on the road and is now making her way through Africa! We'll be buzzing Kinga her in for a Q&A on what's like to be overlanding during the pandemic in Africa.

Simon and Lisa Thomas

Lisa and Simon first went out to ride around the world in May of 2003 and have since ridden an insane 500,00 miles! They have helped to define adventure motorcycling as we know it! They are professional adventurers who will be sharing their skills with us. They'll be doing a masterclass in photography, a workshop in cooking on the road and a presentation about their 17 years in the saddle.

David Haze

David Haze, also known as Nomadic Paddler is a former prisoner turned 6x world record holding SUP adventurer, attempting world firsts and world records. However, it is not all about the pursuit of records and glory. SUP has transformed David's life; his tool for growth & change and he hopes his adventures can encourage more people to reconnect with themselves through adventure by taking that small step out of their comfort zone proving that we are much more than our pasts and mistakes. David will be delivering a workshop on paddleboard adventures.

Alastair Humphreys

Alastair Humphreys will be joining us for a live Q&A on a Life of Adventure. Al got into adventure when he spent 4 years cycling around the world. More recently he has walked across southern India, rowed across the Atlantic Ocean, run six marathons through the Sahara desert, completed a crossing of Iceland, busked through Spain and participated in an expedition in the Arctic, close to the magnetic North Pole. He has trekked 1000 miles across the Empty Quarter desert and 120 miles round the M25 – one of his pioneering microadventures. He was named as one of National Geographic’s Adventurers of the year for 2012.

Dan Skeates

Dan Skeates is an adventurer and professional life coach. He'll be drawing on his experiences from riding a motorcycle to Sydney and his professional career as a life coach to deliver a session on wellbeing on your adventures.

Roseann and Jonathan Hanson

Roseann and Jonathan are founders of the Overland Expo, the world's premiere overland and adventure travel event. They have also been overlanders and adventurers for over 35 years. They have taken on remote overland adventures in some incredible parts of the world including Alaska and South America and they'll be doing a workshop on how to prepare for an off-grid adventure.

Dylan Wickrama and Martina Zucher

Dylan and Martina met whilst adventuring in India and love all things adventure travel. They have been living and working in a van since 2016 and are on the road wherever they like. They will be delivering a workshop on what it's like to live in a van full time with some helpful tips and tricks for anyone thinking about swapping bricks and mortar for the open road!
