The Sit Back and Adventure Zone will be a space to kick back to an adventure film screening, dive into a live workshop or watch the Armchair Adventure Festival Live Stream! It will also feature the Planning Tent - a space where you can drop in and chat to our overland adventure experts and get help in planning your next adventure!

TALKS AND WORKSHOPS

ADVENTURE PHOTOGRAPHY MASTERCLASS

​Lisa and Simon Thomas first went out to ride around the world in May of 2003 and have since ridden an insane 500,00 miles! They have helped to define adventure motorcycling as we know it.

 

As well as being full time adventurers they are professional photographers and will be delivering a masterclass on how to take that perfect snap.

 

This session will be a two-parter with one session on taking snaps and another on editing. ​

Up your Insta game and make sure you head to this session!

ADVENTURE FILM MAKING MASTERCLASS

Fancy making the next Losing Sight of Shore? Or just want to film your trip up Snowdon? The Adventure Film Making Masterclass is for you! 

The session will be ran by Kev Merrey who is director, filmmaker and photographer at SkyRise Productions.

 

Working with many adventurers and endurance athletes, Kev has filmed and photographed in some incredible locations around the world and is fast becoming one of the UK’s top content producers in his field. he’s worked with some incredible adventurers and athletes including endurance athlete Sean Conway, F1 star Mark Webber and multi record-breaking cyclist Jonas Deichmann. This session will give you some great top tips to get started in making your own adventure travel film!

ANDY HODGSON AND ROSALIND CHASTON CHAT OCEAN ROWING 

In 2018, Andy became the first person to ever row solo around Britain – it took him 174 days and 16kg of chocolate! For his next adventure he’s being joined by fellow shipmate Rosalind, to row 3,000 miles across the Atlantic in a very tiny boat.

They’ll be telling tales from their time at sea, recounting Andy’s experience rowing around the coast of Britain, and sharing their plans for the Atlantic.

 

Right next to the stage there will also be their ocean rowing boat, Spirit, for you to get on board and snoop around!

KIM AND ROBIN GRIGSBY TALK OVERLANDING

Kim and Robin have had a travel obsession since the pair met in 2004. Since then, they've worked their way up to a full on expedition vehicle, a Defender 110.

 

In that vehicle they've, so far, visited 52 countries, 4 continents, 3 Oceans, 8 seas and a lot of pubs (Robin's is a cider)!

 

Their last trip was 100,000 miles and over 2 years living in the Defender. They know almost all there is to know about International Overlanding and it won't be just them joining us, so will the iconic Defender!

Kim and Robin love to chat to other overlanders and are always happy to share tips and advice! Don't be afraid to ask!

WILD SWIMMING WITH SOPHIE PIERCE AND MATT NEWBURY

Matt and Sophie are a pair of wild swimming fanatics, who will be chatting about their passion for a sport that has exploded in popularity over the last 12 months. They will also be sharing some of the amazing locations from their brand new book, Wild Swimming Walks: Cornwall.

 

They will be proving that you don’t need to hop on a plane to enjoy incredible adventures on your own doorstep.

Matt and Sophie will also be leading a Wild Swimming Safari from Barn Pool Beach on Saturday morning. Join them for a taste of cold water adventure!

THE VIRTUAL ARMCHAIR ADVENTURE FESTIVAL 

IT'S LIVE!

The Armchair Adventure Festival started as a fully virtual adventure festival with adventurers being buzzed in from around the world! We're not going to leave our virtual roots behind and we will still be broadcasting some of the festival live into your living room! So if you can't make the in-person event make sure you're singed up for the free virtual festival. 

Those of us at the event will be able to watch all of the virtual festival on the big screen live in the Sit Back and Adventure Zone. At times this might feel a bit like adventure festival inception but it also means you'll be able to catch up with adventurers from around the world!

Don't forget to pack your own armchair to enjoy the Sit Back and Adventure Zone... there will be seats there but we are operating a BYOAC (bring your own armchair) policy in the interest of inspiring next level comfort for the entertainment. Prizes will be awarded for the best looking chair!
