Unseen UK chosen as The Armchair Adventure Festival partner for 2021

In 2020 the Armchair Adventure Festival raised £12,500 for charity various charities including NHS Charities Together, COCO and The Movember Foundation. In 2021 we will continue to use our platform to support other charities and good causes at all of our events and we have already decided that the September Armchair Adventure Festival will support Unseen UK, an anti-slavery charity based in Bristol.

We, Matt and Reece (aka The Sidecar Guys - founders of The Armchair Adventure Festival), have been working with Unseen UK for the past five years. We fundraised for Unseen UK and a number of other anti-slavery initiatives on our Guinness World Record breaking circumnavigation of the globe on a scooter and sidecar and we've continued to work with Unseen after returning to the UK, making them the charity partner of our book 'Our Ridiculous World (trip)', with £1 from each sale going to the cause.

We've visited Unseen multiple times and had the privilege of cooking a curry with a survivor of human trafficking whom they supported. We have seen first hand the genuinely life changing and inspiring work they do and could think of no better cause to support.

Currently, Unseen are fighting to free the thousands of people who are living in slavery in the UK, while working with businesses and government to stamp out slavery in supply chains which enslaves so many people around the world. It's estimated that there are still over 40 million people living in slavery around the world, roughly three times the amount of people who were enslaved during the time of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. Unseen's overall goal is to end modern slavery full stop, world over but they're fighting an uphill battle and need all the support they can get.

There's a number of ways to support Unseen through taking part in the event. First up you can make an optional donation when you buy your ticket. Just click 'Donate £5' to Unseen at check out, then there will be a raffle and lots of other ways to donate at the event itself. Can't make the in-person festival? No worries, you'll be able to donate to the virtual tip jar just as you could at the last Armchair Adventure Festivals with every penny donated going to Unseen and the important work they do.

We really hope we can raise a good amount of cash for this amazing cause! The Unseen team will also be at the event to raise awareness of the cause and help raise money, look out for their stand on 'Adventure Avenue'. If you'd like more information about Unseen check out their website www.unseen.org.
